Similar to last year's Bronstein on the King's Indian, and indeed the author's own Winning with the King's Indian (Batsford 1991), this is not a regular theory book but rather a collection of annotated KID-games: over 50 played by the author and some 30 by contemporary specialists such as Shirov, Gelfand, Ivanchuk... and Kasparov!
Gufeld is, of course, a leading expert on 'the elephant on g7' and few fianchetto fans will be unfamiliar with his Mona Lisa victory over the late Vladimir Bagirov. In this book Gufeld covers the Smisch, the Classical Main Line, various systems with the bishop on g5, the Fianchetto Variation and the Four Pawns Attack, all entirely from Black's perspective.
